Accepting subpar.

An example that comes to mind would be subscriptions and phone bills as I am a finance page (not financial advice).

There have been so many times where I, and my mother, just accepted subpar when it comes to these companies. We, or at least my mother, tended to feel a sense of loyalty or ease when it comes to these kinds of companies.

he has been with the same bank and the same phone company for most of her life.

I did learn this lesson quite quickly but these companies have no loyalty. They are about money. Money is their currency and how they talk. From offering all the great deals to new clients to draw them in, rather than the ones they have known or have had for years.
I truly believe we live in the matrix sometimes but that's for another time.

I still remember the conversation she had with the employee. She was rude and upfront. Probably had a bad day. I get it, no one actually likes working on phones, hearing customers shouting and complaining at you all day, but at the same time, no one is forcing you to work that job.

Keeping in mind my mum was on the phone for a good hour before she was able to get through. She called to talk about their new promotion.
